This first course offering will be to create assets for a tutorial game using Audiokinetic's Wwise. It involves doing interactive sound design, speech and music for a playable game. The process of creating and implementing audio for the project and illustrative examples of gameplay will need to be edited together to create a short two minute demo reel. For more advanced students, the possibility of recompiling the game to add new sound calls is also an option. The quality of the sound design, music, speech, process, implementation and resulting demo reel will be evaluated by the school's principal instructors Leonard Paul and Gordon Durity. Wwise is a PC-based tool, but can be successfully run on the Mac running Windows in BootCamp. Once we have time to further develop our courses, similar courses in FMOD and Unity will also be offered.
For the school itself, there will be two pricing models. The first pricing model covers a fully administered and structured evaluation program while the second model allows for a more affordable option of self-directed access to all the program modules at your own pace.
Our goal is to open the school to the public in early 2012. Judging by our initial response, there will be a limited number of spaces, so the most suitable applicants to the courses will be chosen each month and others will be put on a waitlist. Each month a project will be chosen to be featured and that student will receive a 50% rebate on their course cost.
Once we have students working through the courseware we will be adding master classes designed by industry leaders in additional areas of game audio such as cars and speech.
Although we cannot guarantee results, we will be doing our best to keep our prices fair and provide a high level of return on your educational investment in game audio.
